Well since I cannot get on facebook (oh us government).... So on wednesday night I went on my first SAR (search and rescue) at night for a guy who had been missing in the backcounty for 4 days...they specifically asked myself and sarabeth, so that was awesome (they being the Law enforcement that live on the hill with us). We hiked into the hills about six miles then turned around, it was scary and exhilarating all at the same time. He was found the next morning about 2 miles from where we had ended for the night, but sadly he wasn't alive. It was unfortunate, yet it felt so good to look for him, does that sound weird? I have off today, and everyone else and their mother is working right now so I am bored out of my mind a little, I cleaned my room, did the laundry and I am bordering on actually using a vacuum (or not). I had my first day of work yesterday, everything went swimmingly and I pretty much love it here ALOT and may never come back. So far no boys worth more than friendship, but its kinda better not to have to worry about that crap like oh geeze do I look okay or more importantly have I showered lately (uh...). I can breathe in this landscape however... We've been doing a lot of off trail caving...god it feels great to crawl through small spaces and wriggly through tiny openings in pursuit of the magnificat formations that can be found in these caves out here...its the best feeling to emerge totally covered in mud and wetness from the mouth of a cave...and review in your mind what you have just seen and done. The kiddies come on monday, so it should be fun, I have some activities and talks planned for them as well as the normal cave tours and such... If anything has come out of being here so far, it points to the fact that whatever it is I end up being...it will be outside. Email me at jbrown5@washcoll.edu because I want to have people to write too! <3 |
